Climate change is a social justice issue. It cannot be addressed without revealing and tackling the inequalities within society and where they are happening. Only when we know what is happening in detail, and where, can we make strategic, holistic decisions to benefit people and the planet in the long term. This is why the focus of this pragmatic project funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council is on building a Public Map Platform (PMP) to help Local Authorities and their communities picture what is happening in a place as a basis for informed decision making and local action on climate change.

The project is based on the Isle of Anglesey/Ynys Môn in North Wales. Reasonable travel and accommodation on the Isle of Anglesey will be covered by the Department of Architecture, Cambridge University.

There are five project assistant roles available on this project:

  • Two project assistants will create maps of social organisations on the island – they will be allowed to specify the type of social organisation. Managed by Dr Caitlin Shepherd.
  • Two project assistants will create maps of sustainability organisations on the island – they will be allowed to specify the type of sustainability organisation. Managed by Dr Kewei Chen.
  • One project assistant will create a map of a cultural group on the island – they will be allowed to specify the type of cultural group. Managed by Dr Tristian Evans at Wrexham University.
