Play:Disrupt: What is a Map? Workshop @ Anglesey Show

Tue 13 August 2024 / Anglesey Agricultural Society, Tŷ Glyn Williams, The Showground, Gwalchmai, Holyhead, Anglesey, LL65 4RW

We are on a mission to make TOTALLY DIFFERENT types of maps, and we need your help! In this workshop, you will be our master mapmakers, helping us to design a totally new kind of map of Ynys Mon. You will get to choose from a range of objects on our giant mandala, to help show where you like to play or spend your free time. This could be a park, your house, school or anywhere that comes to mind. You can include all sorts of things, not just those we can see and touch. You might add games, things that happened here, stuff you made here, animals, feelings, people…the choice is yours! This is a free, drop-in activity as part of a stall at Anglesey Show. Together, we will weave stories and build up a picture of different places through materials including found objects, movement, drawing, and games. We will use play to think about what makes a map, what are the important things to map, and how things could be shown and played with on a TOTALLY DIFFERENT map.
